The Humming Birds

Humming bird flitting from bloom to bloom
At the break of daylight, evening and at noon.
Gathering sweet nectar all of the day
As restless wings twitter and carry them away.
A thing of bright beauty among bright flowers
Resting only seconds in the daylight hours.
Where they are nesting we do not know,
We can only watch them as they come and go.
Where they go in winter is a mystery to me
Perhaps they go south where flowers will be.
Then in springtime returning again
Searching for sweet blossoms brought
By sunshine and rain.
