An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble.

Prodigal Shawn

I remember him as he was......
the boy who use to be.
The one who use to smile
and make life better for me.

I remember him before the change,
that wrong friends brought about.
He was kind and served the Lord
His praises, he did shout.

He has changed so much now......
He’s a stranger to us all.
He’s moved so far away,
and doesn’t even call.

He’s made some awful choices,
with consequences, I’m sure.
But I remember the boy who was,
his motives were always pure.

Yes, I remember the boy who was,
his future looked so bright!
But he turned his back on all of us,
and the things he knew were right.

He thinks his new ways are cool,
his new friends are his life.
The silly girl he lives with,
should not become his wife.

The sadness in his mothers heart
he gives no second thought.
It doesn’t matter to him,
that he lives not, as he ought.

I know that he has forgotten,
but my heart, it does bless,
to know there was a day once,
when Jesus, he did confess.

Jesus has not left him,
nor will He leave him ever.
One day the boy will know,
that he is not so clever.

He may have run a far way off,
but with him, went my prayers.
Jesus sees my broken heart,
and I know He always cares.

Circumstances will come to pass,
and this boy will see the light.
Yes, I believe things will change,
causing him to regain his sight.

He’ll see where he went wrong,
then pray about his sin,
and Jesus who’s been waiting,
will walk right in with him.

This mothers heart will rejoice,
for Jesus will restore........
The boy, free of bondage,
will serve the Lord once more!

That is my prayer and my hope.
I am, after all, his mother.
I won’t give up on my prodigal
with prayer, his life I’ll cover.

I won’t be discouraged.
I’ll keep the faith and......
One day the wayward boy
will be a faithful man.
